Role description and task arrangements

Schiedam is authentic, vibrant and innovative! Amid great challenges and realistic sustainability ambitions, the municipality of Schiedam strives to be a climate-resistant municipality ready for the future. Achieving our goals requires, among other things, attention to the energy consumption of our own organization. Therefore, the municipality of Schiedam is looking for a bold energy manager.

Do you have the knowledge, expertise and drive to take a close look at the energy consumption of municipal real estate and support the municipality in using energy smartly and efficiently? Do you like a challenge and do you have knowledge of energy conservation? Do you want to work in an organization where there is plenty of room for your fresh perspective, expertise and entrepreneurship? Maybe you are the colleague we are looking for!

What will you do as Energy Administrator?
The municipality of Schiedam faces the challenge of reducing greenhouse gas emissions substantially and even becoming carbon neutral by 2050. This task involves not only the city, but also the municipal organization. Besides achieving these goals from Schiedam's Climate Policy, it is important to lower one's own energy bill and reduce unnecessary consumption. Enough reasons for the organization to take an extra critical look at its own consumption and emissions. That is why we are looking for an enthusiastic and critical colleague who can strengthen us to take up this challenge.

In your role as energy manager, you will work intensively with (Spatial Development and Policy team) from the Property & Land Department. We are looking for someone with perseverance and expertise to perform the tasks below well:
  • Monitor consumption, identify deviations in energy consumption and come up with proposals to improve the situation
  • Initiation, implementation and guidance of energy-saving measures.
  • Detect and resolve problem cases such as ghost connections, excessive consumption, etc.
  • Monitoring any grid congestion within the municipality and the impact of grid congestion on the municipal property portfolio.
  • Supervise energy procurement (new contracts, invoices, switch list, etc.).
  • Active participation in the municipality's CO2 performance ladder and CO2 reduction project group.
  • Forecasting for annual budgets.
  • Prepare annual statements of energy costs for tenants/users in municipality properties.
  • Physical inspection of connections and recording of non-smart meters.
  • Intermediary between organizational units of the municipality, suppliers, grid operator, metering company, etc.
  • Point of contact for questions and/or problems

Job Requirements

  • Is willing (and enthusiastic) to work with the application E+Kplus, among others
  • In possession of driving license B

Details
  • We may request references from your current and/or previous employer(s) after the initial interview, in consultation with you, of course.
  • The hourly rate depends on knowledge and relevant experience.
