Role description and task arrangements

Schiedam is an authentic, vibrant and innovative city on the Schie River with
metropolitan issues as well as neighborhood-oriented issues. The municipality of Schiedam has over

Team Security 

Team Safety consists of the sections Security & Crisis Management, Supervision and Enforcement, and Intervention on Undermining and Nuisance. Each component is managed by a team leader. As Undermining Coordinator, you fall within the Intervention section. 

Undermining and Housing Nuisance Intervention Team. 

The Undermining Intervention Team carries out checks at catering establishments, (illegal) prostitution premises, hemp premises and on business parks. The Housing Nuisance intervention team focuses on tackling slumlords and checks whether the actual occupancy is in accordance with the data recorded in the Basic Registration of Persons. They also check whether residents and property owners hold a housing permit in designated areas. Several lawyers work within the team. Together the lawyers deal with the legal administrative approach to violations in the field of public order and safety. 

 

What will you do? 

Currently the team is missing a Team Leader and an undermining coordinator. As an undermining specialist, you will help the MT and the remaining team members get things on track in order to regain a key role in tackling organized crime within Schiedam. You ensure that signals of undermining are picked up and translated into concrete actions. Together with colleagues, cooperation partners and other parties involved, you work on a resilient city. 

The Undermining Intervention Team consists of a total of 6 FTE, being a coordinator, senior BOA and 4 FTE (Boas/Supervisors)

As an undermining specialist, you are an operational experienced force and can look strategically at the undermining approach. You will support the acting team leader and the team on the
area of undermining crime in achieving the goals of the Undermining Implementation Program.

You identify relevant social, political and administrative developments that influence the field of undermining crime. You also direct, test and evaluate the actual policy in relation to the formulated budgets and objectives and make proposals for adjustments.
You will be independently responsible for projects and the implementation of projects you own
prepared action plans. In doing so, you use analyses of crime statistics,
signals and developments. You handle complex and administratively sensitive files.
Duties include identifying trends and developments in the
area of undermining and having strategic and tactical level drafting of
undermining pictures, the development of concrete plans of action and RIEC casuistry.
You are able to involve all relevant (chain) partners.

In doing so, you also like to put your feet in the clay and go along with major integral audits.


Requirements
  • Relevant education at the HBO/WO level or has an academic working and thinking level.
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of public order and security and experience with the integrated approach to undermining crime.
  • You work independently and are result- and solution-oriented.
  • You are decisive, take initiative and are organizationally strong.
  • You have excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • You have a sense of and experience with political-administrative relations.
  • You have demonstrable experience in advising governance and specifically within the security domain.
  • You easily switch between strategic, tactical and operational levels. You are skilled in developing and communicating policy and have experience with interactive policy processes.
  • You are used to working together and achieving goals together.
