Role description and task arrangements

Senior Project Leader GVB
36 hours / Secondment / DETA-FAST. NOTE: NO ZZP

Within GVB, the Railmaterieel business unit, with approximately 300 employees, provides technical maintenance, overhaul and modifications of streetcars and subways. The vehicle fleet consists of more than 300 rail vehicles, divided into seven types. From challenging KPIs, Railmaterieel focuses on optimal performance of the vehicle fleet in terms of safety, reliability, availability and comfort, at a competitive cost level. For Railmaterieel, the projects office deals with various projects related to the procurement and implementation of new equipment and the preparation and monitoring of overhauls to the existing fleet, within the various departments of this business unit. For the projects office we are looking for a senior Project Leader ownership who moves like a spider in the web between fleet management, workshop and procurement, where good communication, especially with the workshops, is essential.

What will you do
As a senior Project Leader you are primarily responsible for managing the preparation and implementation process for the inflow of the new subsystems and/or rail vehicles and/or major overhauls to the existing fleet, including the coordination of the associated scope, schedule and budget. In close cooperation with colleagues from various disciplines within Railmaterieel, you prepare the projects in such a way that they can be carried out in a timely, effective, efficient and high quality manner, so that the implementation of the new vehicles and/or subsystems and/or major overhauls to the existing fleet runs smoothly.

You lead projects within the Railmaterieel business unit. You ensure the early preparation of implementation plans, procurement plans and investment requests and include key project indicators such as lead time, capacity, information provision, budget and quality. You arrange the decision-making process of a project. In addition, you prepare the Rail Equipment Organization in such a way that it is enabled to perform vehicle maintenance. Through close cooperation with the various departments, including Line Workshops, Technical Management and SupplyChain, you ensure that a project starts on time and monitor during the project whether we stay within budget and deadlines. You will identify any deviations from budget and/or lead time and make timely adjustments in cooperation with the departments involved.

What do you bring with you
We are looking for a result-oriented jack-of-all-trades who is not afraid of dirty hands and who, together with the workshop, draws up a smooth schedule for major overhauls involving tens of millions of euros on a fleet of more than 80 metros and more than 200 streetcars. You are a self-starting, pragmatic and proactive project leader with a good feel for project management, engineering and logistical planning. A driven professional with insight and overview, who carefully makes all the preparations necessary for a solid project realization. You dare to act independently, but are also a team player, aware of your connecting role in the chain. You regularly consult with internal and external parties, such as the (line) workshop, material or work suppliers or request technical information from various consultants. You will make an important contribution to the realization of the objectives of the GVB to achieve a professional, high-quality maintenance organization.

For this position, extensive experience (minimum 5 years - 10 years) in the field of project management is expected. This includes an HBO level of education, preferably in the field of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, process automation or technical business administration with an affinity for engineering.
- At least 5 years of substantive experience in the field of project management;
- Project thinker who is able to translate complex systems into a project-based execution and implementation plan;
- Demonstrated experience with project-based work (PRINCE2, IPMA) and project management in a technical environment. Experience with Systems Engineering is a plus;
- Experience with European Tendering procedures and the preparation of related documents;
- Experience with light rail infrastructure and/or equipment is a plus;
- Good knowledge of the English and/or German language.
