Role description and task arrangements

Policy Advisor for Recreation & Tourism (Temporary Position, 18 hours per week)

The municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug views recreation and tourism as one of its most important economic pillars, which also contributes to quality of life, employment, and local amenities. We place great importance on striking a good balance between the interests of visitors and those of our residents, as well as the fragile aspects of nature, culture, and heritage. We are also working on this in collaboration with the Regional Tourism Office (RBT).

As a Policy Advisor for Recreation & Tourism, you will work on various projects for the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug. You will have a broad and varied role. We are looking for someone who can fill this position on a temporary basis, for up to 18 hours per week, until we find a permanent employee.

You will be part of the Environmental Quality Policy Team. Within that team, you—along with three other colleagues—will be part of the Economics Unit. This includes two Economics Policy Advisors (local and strategic) and the Recreation Areas Coordinator.

What do we expect from you?
  • You actively seek to collaborate with colleagues to ensure that the interests of recreation and tourism are properly taken into account in various policy documents and in area development projects.
  • You will build support both within and outside our organization.
  • You will represent the municipality in an official capacity in regional partnerships, such as with the Regional Tourism Bureau. 
  • You will be involved in regional initiatives and various internal and regional meetings related to recreation and tourism.
  • You will provide advice and be involved in projects focused on improving route networks (cycling and walking networks) and visitor information.
  • You are part of the " Buitengebied in Balans" program team.
  • When necessary, you will advise the municipal executive, both upon request and on your own initiative, on various topics.
