Role description and task arrangements

Do you want to help create a safer living environment and make a real social impact? Do complex challenges energize you, and do you enjoy collaborating with various stakeholders? Then this position as a Wildfire Management Project Manager is the right fit for you!

This is what you will do
The Utrechtse Heuvelrug is a beautiful nature reserve with forests and heathland that attracts many visitors. Climate change is increasing the risk of wildfires. Small fires can quickly escalate into large, uncontrollable blazes with serious consequences.
As project manager, you’ll ensure that our municipality is well prepared for this. You’ll identify the necessary measures and ensure that they are actually implemented. You’ll do this in collaboration with, among others, property owners, the Utrecht Safety Region (VRU), the municipality of Woudenberg specifically, and other municipalities.
You will be working on a clear and practical approach to wildfire management. In doing so:
  • turn your advice into concrete actions,
  • helps you with permits and measures related to outdoor spaces,
  • work with colleagues and partners to resolve issues,
  • and develop an implementation plan for the coming years.
Whenever possible, you should also get started on implementation right away.

Your duties
  • Development of a Municipal Wildfire Management Implementation Program
  • Connecting stakeholders and aligning interests
  • Establishing the necessary conditions for implementation
  • Advising and reporting to the board and partners
  • Collaborating and sharing knowledge with other municipalities
About the team
You will be working on the Environmental Quality team, within the Environment division. The project is also part of the “Balanced Rural Areas” program, through which we are working to create a strong and sustainable living environment.

This we offer
  • A varied role with a tangible social impact
  • Opportunities to grow and take the initiative
  • A supportive and informal work environment
  • Collaboration with passionate colleagues and partners

This is what you bring
You’re someone who enjoys making a difference. You maintain a broad perspective, understand different interests, and know how to get others on board with your approach. You work in a structured manner and break down complex issues into clear steps.
In addition:
  • Have you completed at least a higher professional education program?
  • Do you have experience working in a municipal or political-administrative setting?
  • Do you have experience as a project manager or site manager?
  • Do you work proactively and with a focus on solutions?
  • Do you communicate clearly and enjoy working with others?
  • Do you have strong analytical skills?
About the Municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug
