Role description and task arrangements

Sun on land project manager

Location: Thorn/hybrid
Hours: 12-16 hours per week (1-2 years maximum)
Level: hbo-wo

Are you looking for a project leader position with social impact? Do you have an affinity with sustainability and would you like to contribute to sustainable generation and area development? Are you strong in stakeholder management and a connector who brings ambition, interests and wishes together? Then the assignment of project leader solar on land is for you!

This is what you will do

In 2024, the solar on land policy framework was adopted by the City Council. This is seen as progressive and innovative, partly because it assumes the combination of different functions. One can think of solar energy generation with water storage, nature development and/or agriculture. Now is the time to persevere and convert policy into concrete actions. As Project Manager Solar on Land you will be involved in the implementation of the area-based approach in our municipality with the aim of making a significant contribution to our sustainable solar energy target. This includes the tasks related to energy transition and falls under the sustainability program. The project amounts to engaging in constructive dialogue with stakeholders in one or a few promising areas in order to arrive together at a meaningful area development with solar energy generation as the main task.

Job duties.

  • Direct the (preliminary) selection and choice of one or a few most promising areas for renewable solar energy generation;
  • Develop a strategy for participatory processes with residents and other stakeholders;
  • Gathering and analyzing interests of stakeholders. Organize stakeholder dialogue and explore initiatives from the area;
  • You will work within the frameworks of the established policy and actively think about the interpretation of this project;
  • Ensure dialogue and promote collaboration with stakeholders;
  • Initiate a movement in which renewable generation with "solar on land" will be central to the chosen area-based approach;
  • Accelerate collaboration with key stakeholders in addition to individual residents, such as water board, industry associations, energy cooperative;
  • Supervise communication strategy towards media, including preparation of news releases;
  • Project communication, you will create content for the website or newsletter and organize (in)formal meetings.

This is you

You want to make impact! Through your focus on the project goals and understanding of the various interests, you achieve great results for the realization of solar projects based on an area-specific approach. You have good communication skills. The role of chairman or speaker in front of a group suits you well.

Furthermore, we require

  • At least a completed college education
  • Relevant work experience as a project leader or environmental manager with an eye for both content and (participatory) process
  • Knowledge and experience in energy/heat transition and participation are a plus
  • Experience with municipal organizations and a political environment
  • You have no problem working regularly in the evening
  • You are solution-oriented and collaborative

This is us

Utrechtse Heuvelrug is a green and beautiful municipality with over 50,000 inhabitants in seven characteristic villages in a wooded landscape in the middle of the country. The old cultural landscape and the adjacent river area complete the picture. A very popular place to live, work and relax.
With us, the lines are short and the atmosphere is informal. Together with residents, entrepreneurs, partners and administrators we work on current issues with vision and ambition. The work is increasing and in a number of themes we want to achieve results faster.
