Role description and task arrangements

Director of the Environment Act

The Environment Act is in full swing and calls for strategic spatial decisions and smart, coordinated implementation. And that’s where we need you. A visionary and pragmatic bridge-builder who provides advice and takes the lead. Someone who not only manages the content and the process but also fosters integrated collaboration. Someone who helps shape the spaces of tomorrow, sees the Environment Act as an opportunity, and sets the course together with us.

The assignment consists of 2 phases:

1. Exploratory phase: Determining what our organization needs to operate effectively under the Environment Act
2. Implementation phase: Establishing working agreements, a consultation structure, and ensuring knowledge and capacity are in place

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Developing and ensuring the policy cycle

2. Ensuring Coherence Within the Environmental Act Framework
  • Ensures the consistency and coherence between the environmental vision, programs, and environmental plan.
  • Provides guidance on the appropriate place for policies within the framework of the Environment Act.
3. Ensuring comprehensiveness (the question is also whether everything needs to be comprehensive)
  • Ensures horizontal coordination across policy areas (environment, housing, economy, sustainability, hospitality, cultural history, etc.).
  • Ensures vertical integration from vision to program to plan to implementation.
  • Identifies one-sided or isolated policy development and takes corrective action.

4. Process management for new policies

  • Assesses new policy initiatives against the policy cycle, the environmental vision, and available capacity.
  • Provides advice on prioritization, timing, sequence, and alignment with ongoing programs
5. Culture and Knowledge Building
  • Ensures a practical link between policy, permitting, oversight, and enforcement
  • Identifies knowledge gaps and organizes knowledge-building efforts related to the Environment Act
  • Promotes consistent policy implementation and execution.
