Role description and task arrangements

For the Environmental Review & Permitting Department, we are looking for a
Spatial Development & Environmental Advisor

Do you have knowledge of the broad environmental field and affinity with spatial developments or vice versa? Do you like connecting policy with implementation, do you have a pioneering mentality and do you feel comfortable bringing ideas together into a workable whole? Then we are looking for you! Work on a better living environment and apply.

What will you do?

Issues concerning the environment and nature in the living environment are becoming increasingly complex, while solutions are increasingly needed in this part of the Netherlands. We want to invest in a connector who will help municipalities to think along with us at the front end of spatial planning development and to facilitate regional harmonization and the inclusion of environmental knowledge in environmental plans. ODH already does this, but wants to become more robust in this.
This is a new role within Haaglanden, so there is plenty of room for coloring and adapting to developments that occur! In any case, the basic package consists of the following tasks:
  • You will contribute to the further development of the cluster dealing with spatial advice.
  • You identify bottlenecks and make improvement proposals;
  • Function as point of contact for environmental specialists from ODH towards the 9 municipalities and Province;
  • Initiate and organize substantive consultations with various experts from ODH and municipalities in the following areas: Soil, External Safety, Noise, Odor, Groundwater, Light, Air and Nature. Including progress monitoring
  • Support the environmental policy of municipalities by advising on the (joint) approach to environmental problems and input of environmental aspects into environmental policy, provide input to policy makers from practical experience;
  • Translate municipal and provincial policies into VTH implementation;
  • Monitor national developments and feed them into said consultations;
  • Translate advice from our specialists towards spatial developments at (individual) municipalities.

What do we ask of you?

We expect affinity with solving environmental issues for problems irt spatial developments and/or the urban environment. Empathy with the problems of municipal clients, flexibility and the ability to provide directly applicable practical advice.
  • A completed college or university degree, preferably in the field of planning, environmental science or sustainable development;
  • Relevant government work experience within the field of Environmental or Spatial Development;
  • Proactive, results- and solution-oriented;
  • Customer-oriented and flexible;
  • A team player with an open and direct way of communicating;
  • You are accurate and can write, plan and organize well.
