Responding to this assignment? You can do so on Striive.

Role description and task arrangements

Due to extra demand for projects and the upcoming leave of our permanent behavioral sustainability specialist, we are temporarily looking for a behavioral sustainability specialist.

Municipalities are working hard to motivate and encourage residents to make their homes and environment more sustainable. And that is where your knowledge of sustainable behavior comes in handy. You know how to motivate people to become more sustainable and are good at coming up with creative, concrete ideas. In addition, you understand how to shape participation in such a way that residents are properly involved in municipal projects.

Examples include (further) shaping the marketing and communication about the multi-year collective care in the field of insulation. But also thinking along on behavioral interventions to reduce the amount of residual waste within a municipality or setting up a participation approach for the exploration towards a natural gas-free neighborhood.

But your knowledge of target groups and behavior change is also necessary in other topics. In fact, behavioral specialists have recently started working more broadly than just sustainability. For example, there is also a nice assignment for the use of behavioral expertise in strengthening the cooperation between environmental services, and colleagues are asked on call to help think about all kinds of environmental issues.

What will you do?

  • You will implement and set up projects for municipalities in the area of encouraging sustainable behavior and participation.

  • You advise municipalities from your behavioral expertise in setting up projects, for example, about connecting with a specific target group, removing obstacles or further encouraging residents who would like to get started with sustainability.

  • You also advise municipalities in the area of participation, such as involving residents in explorations toward a natural gas-free solution at the neighborhood level.

  • You think about broader (environmental) issues from your behavioral perspective.
