As a nursing assistant, you will be part of the nursing team within the medical department at Advisium Zuid. This region includes various locations, such as Druten, Tiel, and Geldermalsen.
You’ll work alongside VG physicians, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, practice nurses, physician assistants, and fellow nurses. The team is young, knowledgeable, and constantly evolving.
Together, you provide high-quality medical care to clients with a wide range of healthcare needs.
The nursing team provides nursing and other care services to all residential facilities in the region. The client population is very diverse. You will work with clients of all ages, ranging from those with mild intellectual disabilities to those with severe multiple disabilities.
In the evenings and on weekends, you’ll serve as the on-call support for the doctor on duty or the HAP. In this role, you’ll use your knowledge and expertise to take personal responsibility and make independent decisions regarding the treatment plan. You’ll determine whether it’s necessary to consult the GP clinic, a VG doctor, or another specialty. If necessary, you will visit patients at their homes and must be available for unplanned or emergency care. You may also be required to perform nursing procedures in such situations.
Throughout the day, you will be available through the medical department to provide training and conduct assessments for high-risk and restricted procedures. In addition, you will support the residential units with routine and more complex nursing procedures. You will instruct and supervise colleagues in performing these tasks and provide coaching and advice on nursing care. In the event of acute incidents, you will act in accordance with applicable procedures and, where necessary, make decisions in consultation with the physician.
In addition, you will support and advise teams on a wide range of care needs, such as palliative care, psychiatric or mental health care, wound care, and care related to infectious diseases. Collaboration with behavioral health specialists, the care manager, and the care staff at the residential facilities is of great importance in this regard.
As a nursing supervisor, you are also responsible for carefully assessing clients’ somatic care needs. You also help train, guide, and coach teams in identifying, preventing, and addressing nursing care needs.
