Role description and task arrangements

Anesthesia Technician | Working at UMC Utrecht

This is what you will do

As an anesthesiologist, you will work in the operating room and in treatment and examination rooms at the UMC Utrecht location. You will be an important addition to our team, both personally and professionally. With us, you will have a job where no two days are the same in an innovative workplace, both in the operating rooms and in anesthesia.

Here's why you want to work at UMC Utrecht:

  • You will be working in a brand-new operating room complex, where you will be using the latest techniques and most advanced equipment. Innovation is our top priority.
  • The diversity of patients, procedures, and specialties is vast and interesting. This includes complex brain surgery and spine surgery, thoracic surgery, transplant surgery, endovascular surgery, and Da Vinci robotic surgery.
  • Our operating room is the trauma center for the central Netherlands. For the team and for you, this often means unexpected surgeries on polytrauma patients and creativity in problem solving.
  • In addition to direct patient care, you can, for example, take on the role of day coordinator, participate in research, or take part in projects to improve quality in the department. You will also be part of the resuscitation team.
  • You can continue to develop in all kinds of ways with us, for example as a Vascular Access Specialist (VAS), working in a combined role, as a POS screener, or progressing to become a Sedation Practice Specialist (SPS).

Together, we will look at which direction you want to go and what you need. Of course, you don't have to be able to do everything right away. Your colleagues will give you a thorough introduction. Your induction program will always be tailored to your needs. We will make sure of that.

This is where you will work

There are three operating room centers at UMC Utrecht. Two for adults at the UMC Utrecht location and one at the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital. You will be working at our operating room complex for adults. Here we have 23 operating rooms, where we perform challenging and specialized surgeries. We do this within the following specialties:

  • Cardiac and vascular surgery;
  • Orthopedics, urology, and gynecology;
  • General trauma and plastic surgery;
  • Neurosurgery, ENT, and oral surgery;
  • Ophthalmology.

As an anesthetist, you will be part of a collegial and independent team. We learn from each other, grow in knowledge every day, and help each other. We have a team app and use it to solve many issues together. The working atmosphere is professional and pleasant. We consider mastery of our profession and technology to be just as important as collaboration and contact with patients. We are proud of our work and strive every day to provide excellent patient care with extra attention to the well-being and safety of each individual patient.

This you take with you
  • You have a CZO diploma in Anesthesia Assistant. Do you have a higher professional education (HBO) diploma in VT or BMH? Then internship and/or work experience as an anesthesia assistant is required.

  • You are an independent professional with a positive attitude who likes to take responsibility and is critical of processes and content.

  • You look beyond your own immediate tasks. You are also open to learning new things all the time.

  • You have good communication skills and are focused on collaboration.
