Interim Occupational Physician – UMC Utrecht

We are seeking an experienced interim occupational physician for UMC Utrecht who is interested in working in an academic setting where thorough medical advice, prevention, and collaboration are central to our work.
The Position
Together with a team of six occupational physicians, you will be responsible for managing employee absences and providing guidance and advice to employees across multiple organizational units. You will serve a diverse group of over 12,000 employees in healthcare, research, education, and support services.
You will oversee sick leave cases in accordance with the Gatekeeper Improvement Act and provide advice on work capacity, employability, and sustainable return to work. In addition, you will hold an average of six consultation hours per day and will also be active outside the consultation room, for example, in consultations with managers, during workplace visits, and in preventive programs.
In addition to case studies, you will focus on topics such as psychosocial workload, stress detection, and infection prevention. You will actively contribute to policy development and participate in thematic meetings and organization-wide advisory activities.
Work Environment You will work within the Health and Safety Department, as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes company physicians, occupational health nurses, occupational hygienists, and occupational health specialists. The team operates in a collegial atmosphere, with short lines of communication and ample opportunity for substantive consultation and professional autonomy.
