Interim Cluster Manager for a Safe Work Environment
This is an interim position until the vacancy is permanently filled.
As Cluster Manager for a Safe Work Environment, you will ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-organized work environment at UMC Utrecht. You will bridge the gap between policy, technology, and operations and lead teams in a 24/7 healthcare setting.
This is what you will do: As the Safe Work Environment Cluster Manager, you are responsible for developing, organizing, and continuously improving a safe work environment at UMC Utrecht. You ensure coordination between physical safety, social safety, fire safety, security, and technical systems.You will translate UMC Utrecht’s strategic direction into a future-proof approach and ensure a balance between safety, hospitality, and continuity of care.Your duties include:
- managing four team leaders (security, corporate fire department, and hospitality) and a staff team of safety advisors and technical administrators responsible for security systems and locker rooms;
- developing and implementing comprehensive safety policies;
- ensure high-quality operational services that are available around the clock (24/7);
- focusing on risk management, compliance, and quality;
- be responsible for technical security systems and their ongoing development;
- advising management and the executive board on safety issues;
- connecting internal and external stakeholders, such as healthcare departments and emergency services;
- contribute to crisis management and preparedness for incidents and emergencies.
- Duty Manager on behalf of the Facilities Management Company in the event of incidents or emergencies

You will be part of a team dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and well-organized work environment.In the coming years, UMC Utrecht will undergo a large-scale renovation and expansion of the hospital. The Facilities Department plays a crucial role in this process: from ensuring safety and continuity to supporting new care concepts and work environments.All of this is happening while patient care continues around the clock. This requires careful coordination, flexibility, and tough decisions. As a Safe Work Environment Cluster Manager, you’ll be at the heart of these developments and will play a direct role in ensuring a safe environment during this transition.

You are visible, decisive, and attuned to the organization’s needs. In addition, you know how to bring people together and create structure and cohesion. You are adept at balancing the tension between security and hospitality, and you translate strategy into concrete results.In addition, you have:
- an academic or higher vocational education (HBO+) level of work and thinking, with extensive management experience, preferably in a complex or 24/7 healthcare environment;
- experience in safety, security, crisis management, or facility services;
- knowledge of comprehensive safety (physical, social, and fire safety);
- an affinity for technical security systems;
- Experience with stakeholder management in an administrative setting.
