Role description and task arrangements

Continuous Monitoring Implementation Specialist

Job Description
:
This job description focuses on the implementation of continuous monitoring within the inpatient setting: the clinic.
As of May 2026, continuous monitoring has been implemented in four clinical nursing wards (both medical and surgical disciplines). A sensor is used for this purpose, which is partially integrated with the EHR. Following the initial implementation phase, the project is currently in the adoption phase. This means that significant support is still needed to ensure the project’s success. This includes steering and monitoring both nursing and medical adoption, as well as managing technical issues. We work according to the continuous improvement methodology: challenges are addressed promptly, and solutions/responses are communicated back to users as quickly as possible. This project will be evaluated in the second half of 2026 to determine whether and how continuous monitoring will be scaled up to the entire clinic.

Responsibilities: As an implementation specialist, you will take on the tasks listed below. You will share responsibility with colleagues already involved in the project.
  • Project-based work (= project manager role)
    • General project management responsibilities – you’ll be responsible for maintaining an overview of this multidisciplinary and complex project and serving as a liaison between the relevant stakeholders (involving a significant amount of stakeholder management). You’ll share the project management role with other team members.
    • Coordination with the steering committee and operational project groups – together with the clinic digitization project leader, nursing project leaders, and the principal investigator, you serve as the “hub of the network” and ensure that the right questions (and recommendations) are discussed in the appropriate forums.
    • General coordination with the IT management team and the medical technology department
      • Coordination of any remaining IT integrations in consultation with the IT management team and the sensor vendor
      • Task: Configuration and optimization of a medium-term management scenario (centralization)
  • Subject-matter expertise
    • Coordination, analysis, and feedback on complex clinical cases – you have knowledge of human physiology, physiological signs, and vital signs (and their variations) in complex medical situations, and are able to quickly assess and explain related clinical cases.
    • Coordination, resolution, and feedback regarding technical issues and malfunctions—you take the lead and assume responsibility in these matters, communicating quickly and efficiently with all relevant stakeholders (from nurses to IT specialists to vendors).
    • Process/product optimization related to the sensor – you will handle requests from the field and translate them into specific issues for IT specialists and the supplier. In addition, you will also come up with your own suggestions for optimization.
  • Monitor and, where necessary, guide the adoption of nursing practices and the optimization of nursing workflows. You organize meetings, communicate with nursing teams, and work on process optimization—you do this in collaboration with a nursing project leader, who is always theprimary point of contact for nursing teams, while you contribute expertise in content and technology.
  • Monitor and, where necessary, guide the medical adoption process. You will facilitate discussions, communicate with staff, and provide additional information upon request—in collaboration with the principal investigator (i.e., the subject matter expert).

Requested expertise:
  • University-level academic ability
  • Adequate knowledge of human physiology, physiological signs, and vital signs
  • Sufficient knowledge of sensor technology
  • Experience with project management and coordinating/implementing digital innovations in healthcare organizations
  • You are good at maintaining an overview and coordinating project activities
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines with a wide range of healthcare professionals (from surgical to technical to strategic)
  • Experience in building support for innovation, experience in dealing with resistance
  • You are organizationally savvy, analytical, and results-oriented
