Role description and task arrangements

Interim Sedation Practice Specialist (SPS)

About the position

Are you a junior Sedation Practice Specialist? We are looking for a professional to fill a versatile interim position who will play a key role throughout the entire sedation care chain.

In this dynamic role, you will spend approximately 50% of your time working as a Sedation Practice Specialist and 50% as an anesthesia assistant in the operating room complex. You will be responsible for caring for patients during procedural sedation and analgesia (PSA), from intake through to post-procedure care.

You will work with both adult and pediatric patients and serve as the primary point of contact throughout the treatment process. You will independently assess patients’ physical condition, classify them, and monitor their vital signs during the procedure. In addition, you will bear ultimate responsibility for the PSA, including discharge and post-operative care from an anesthesiological perspective.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for the entire sedation care chain (PSA)
  • Independently assessing and preparing patients
  • Monitoring vital signs during procedures
  • Coordinating and collaborating with healthcare providers
  • Acting calmly and confidently in urgent situations
  • Working with innovative techniques such as image-guided HIFU and radiation therapy
  • Contributions to (scientific) research and innovation
  • Mentoring and training colleagues and new professionals
  • Working alternately at off-site locations and at the operating room complex

Work Environment

You will be part of a specialized sedation team and will work in various departments outside the operating room complex, such as:

  • Gastroenterology
  • Imaging
  • Angiography Suite
  • Vaccination Room
  • Specialized Dentistry

In addition, you will work in the operating room complex, where you will rotate among various operating centers, including a pediatric hospital setting. Here, you will gain exposure to a wide range of specialties, from general surgery to highly complex (pediatric) oncological care.

The work environment is professional, innovative, and collaborative. Teamwork, patient-centered care, and quality of care are our top priorities.

What do you bring?

  • CZO Certificate in Anesthesia Technology
  • Training as a Sedation Practice Specialist (or willing to undergo such training)
  • Independence and a sense of responsibility
  • Strong clinical insight and decision-making skills
  • Stress resilience and flexibility in high-pressure situations
  • An interest in technology, innovation, and complex healthcare
  • Interest in the development of the field and knowledge transfer

What makes this assignment interesting?

  • A highly varied interim position combining operating room and sedation practice
