Role description and task arrangements

Do you enjoy a fast-paced and unpredictable workday? And do you like to work hard and get back in the car feeling tired but satisfied? Then this is the perfect job for you! The Emergency Department (ED) at UMC Utrecht provides care to a wide variety of acutely ill patients. As the largest Level 1 trauma center in central Netherlands, our ED has a unique character: we see relatively few self-referrals and many patients with acute and complex care needs. In this role, you’ll frequently encounter unique cases and a wide range of clinical presentations. In addition, you may be deployed to the Emergency Hospital in the event of an opening. That is what makes us—and soon, your work—so special!

Department

You’ll be working alongside 60 motivated emergency department staff members. Our team is characterized by great diversity in terms of age and experience. No two days are the same here, and flexibility, trust, and job satisfaction are highly valued by our team. We understand our responsibilities, take initiative when needed, and actively contribute ideas for potential improvements to existing processes. We offer a dynamic workplace combined with top-quality clinical care for (neuro)trauma patients, unstable children, and patients across all specialties and age groups, ranging from those with minor to severe illnesses. The emergency department is open 24 hours a day for all patients (adults and children) who require urgent care. The UMC Utrecht Emergency Department also serves as the trauma center for the Utrecht region and works closely with, among others, the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital (WKZ), the Princess Maxima Center (PMC), and the Central Military Hospital (CMH). The department is (jointly) responsible for the functioning of the resuscitation team.

Profile

You have a vocational or college degree in nursing and have completed emergency department training. You also have relevant work experience, so you can start right away. You are flexible and willing to help us cover ad hoc shifts.
