Transition Manager, Business Control

Finance Department & Operations Department

Effective January 1, 2027, UMC Utrecht will transition to a matrix organization consisting of Themes, Centers, and centrally organized Services. The Business Control function will change accordingly.

We are looking for a strong, experienced interim professional who can help shape this change: building a new Business Control department, forming a new team of senior business controllers, and laying the operational foundation for the entire matrix. A position with real room to build.

What you will do

• As a launch manager, you will get the new Business Control department up and running and prepare for a smooth transition to the permanent manager.
• As a leader among equals, you will bring together the future senior business controllers from Operations and Finance into a single group with a shared, clearly defined understanding of their roles.
• You will design and implement the operational ecosystem that supports it: clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and collaboration agreements between Business Control, Capacity Management, and Tactical Planning.

What to Bring

• Extensive experience as a manager or founder of a Business Control department in a hospital or university medical center.
• The ability to gain the respect of experienced professionals without a formal hierarchy.
• In-depth knowledge of Business Control, Financial Control, and Planning & Control, with an affinity for Operations and Performance Management.
