Role description and task arrangements

Interim Head of the Dialysis Unit (Operations)
Are you a manager who would like to make a significant contribution to the day-to-day operations and ongoing development of a specialized healthcare unit? As the interim Unit Head of our Dialysis Unit, you will be tasked with working alongside your colleagues to manage day-to-day operations and foster team development.

This is what you will do
In this temporary position, you’ll work closely with the Head of the Dialysis Unit and be part of the Dialysis Department’s management team, alongside two internist-nephrologists, among others. Therefore, you don’t need to have specialized knowledge of the field. The Head of the Dialysis Unit currently has a large portfolio; you will support the department in its day-to-day management, with a focus on operations and improvement initiatives.
Specifically, you will deal with:
  • Supporting improvement initiatives, such as analyzing and following up on the results of the employee satisfaction survey;
  • Contributing to the development of the nursing team, which trains many new dialysis nurses;
  • Promoting a work environment that emphasizes collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement;
  • Managing cases of absenteeism; you monitor and ensure follow-up;
  • Ensuring effective planning and oversight so that the department achieves its goals;
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners and providing support for department-wide activities, such as the procurement of specialized materials and equipment;
  • Taking over the wide range of managerial duties of the Dialysis Unit Head in his or her absence.
Together with the team, you will contribute to scientific research, innovation, and education.
This is where you will work
The Dialysis Unit is part of the Nephrology Department, along with the outpatient clinic, day treatment unit, and nursing ward. The team consists of approximately 35 colleagues, including dialysis nurses, dialysis nurse trainees, senior nurses, coordinating nurses, clinical instructors, department assistants, department secretaries, and a quality assurance officer.
This you take with you
  • You have completed a management program at the higher professional education (HBO) level;
  • You have experience as a manager, preferably in the healthcare sector, with knowledge of quality and change management;
  • As a collaborative leader, you know how to inspire and motivate a close-knit team, with an eye for both individual development and team results;
  • You are available 24 hours per week for a period of 6 months.
