Who is ZHB?
Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar is a collaboration of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Department of Public Works, the Province of South Holland, the municipality of The Hague, the municipality of Rotterdam, Metropoolregio Den Haag Rotterdam (MRDH), the Port of Rotterdam Authority and ProRail.

Our main task is to improve accessibility and livability in South Holland. To achieve this, together with the partners, we ensure that disruption during works is limited and we contribute to the sustainable mobility transition. We have about 100 people working at ZHB. That's a permanent base of about 30 employees and about 70 people in a flexible shell.

What will you do?
You will rotate into the communications team of 5 people. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication policy within ZHB, with the aim of reaching our target groups, within a complex network of public and private partners. You guard the content line and consistency in all internal and external communication and you have a directing role in connecting communication activities at program, project and area level. In addition, you are the strategic sparring partner of project leaders, area directors and management.

The work package consists of a number of parts. You have your own projects ZHB-wide such as internal communication, the website and you manage the online communication. Together with a junior communications advisor, you will also be responsible for communications in the South Holland Islands and port area and various projects in these areas.

Tasks and responsibilities.

  • Together with other communication consultants, you will coordinate the implementation of communication plans and set communication priorities and connect communication strategies from the projects and area approaches.
  • You transform substantively complex topics into accessible communications for various audiences.
  • Continuing to develop the joint website and ensuring that it remains up-to-date.
  • Ensuring proper social media content strategy and implementation among colleagues.
  • Together with communications consultants, you will build communications in the South Holland Islands and Port area and work on communications in projects in this or other areas.
  • Regular consultations with partners in the area are organized. Together with other communication advisors you will organize and prepare once a month a communication meeting with all partners in the area (administrative and official).
  • Support colleagues in spokesmanship, presentations and content clarification.

Skills and qualifications
  • You are experienced and innovative; you pick up new material quickly and see through what approach is needed in an area.
  • You are consultative, collaborative and connecting.
  • You have good organizational and managerial sensitivity.
  • You are action-oriented: at ZHB, all communications advisors also work in execution.
  • Preferably you have knowledge of the port area and the South Holland Islands.
  • You are used to project-based work, to a multitude of projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • You are proactive, analytical and results-oriented.








Job Requirements
  • A completed college or university education.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in strategic communications consulting, corporate communications and project communications.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management and switching between different levels.
  • Experience developing websites and using social media.

Good to know
  • Work week of 24-32 hours, negotiable schedule.
  • There will be occasional consultations in other locations within the province of South Holland and in the specific area of South Holland Islands and Harbor.
