Are you good at organizing, connecting, and maintaining an overview?
To support this approach, Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar (ZHB) is looking for an Area Support Officer. In this role, you will support the portfolio holder, area director, and MTA A15 project leader in our activities in the Drechtsteden & Alblasserwaard region. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with and connecting various parties, making agreements, reporting, and participating in analyses and studies. You will be the connecting link between area partners, project teams, and the internal organization of ZHB.

About Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar
Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar is a collaboration of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Department of Public Works, the Province of South Holland, the municipality of The Hague, the municipality of Rotterdam, Metropolitan Region of The Hague Rotterdam (MRDH), the Port of Rotterdam Authority and ProRail.

Our main task is to improve accessibility in South Holland. To achieve this, we and our partners ensure that disruption during works is limited and we contribute to the sustainable mobility transition. We have about 100 people working at ZHB. That's a permanent base of about 30 employees and about 70 people in a flexible shell.

What will you do?
As an Area Support Officer, you will support the implementation of the area-specific approach in the Drechtsteden & Alblasserwaard region. You will focus on organizing, structuring, and monitoring the collaboration between government bodies and partners. You will assist in drawing up an area agenda and a coherent package of measures and monitor their progress. In addition, you will support the project leader of the medium-term approach A15, a project involving large-scale replacement and renovation work, with a view to the long-term mobility transition. This includes work on the Papendrecht Bridge, the Noord Tunnel, the Dordrecht Traffic Bridge, the railway, and the underlying road network. You will have a signaling role towards project teams. ZHB works across projects with the aim of structurally improving accessibility in the areas. In doing so, you will help to ensure that projects contribute to the joint area objectives.

Duties and responsibilities

Coordination and support
  • Planning and organizing meetings with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Preparing agendas and meeting documents.
  • Taking care of reporting, decisions, and action lists.
  • Monitoring the follow-up of agreements and action points.

  • Facilitating and strengthening cooperation between governments and partners in the area.
  • Supporting the process of developing regional agendas and related packages of measures.
  • Promoting coordination and connection within and between areas.

  • Collecting, organizing, and presenting area information.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, memos, and progress reports.

Progress monitoring and reporting
  • Monitoring the planning and progress of the area-specific approach and reporting this to the portfolio manager/project leader.
  • Identifying bottlenecks, risks, and opportunities and making them open to discussion.
Job Requirements
  • HBO/HBO+ working and thinking level.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a support role within projects or programs.
  • Experience working in an administrative or public collaborative context.
  • Affinity with mobility, infrastructure, and accessibility.
  • Able to look beyond simply making appointments and reporting, but also have a feel for what is going on with the parties involved and be able to conduct desk research analysis.
  • Results-oriented, decisive, able to connect with others, and able to work independently.

Good to know
  • 24-32 hours, negotiable schedule.
