Are you a traffic engineer who knows how to turn data into practical recommendations, and do you want to help make South Holland more accessible? Then we’re looking for you. 

As a Mid-Level Traffic Engineer, you will be part of the Traffic Team at Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar (ZHB). You will make a significant contribution to a well-functioning and accessible traffic and mobility network by conducting traffic analyses, monitoring, and evaluations. You will translate complex traffic and mobility data into clear insights and recommendations for regional teams, project teams, and other stakeholders. 

You will work with various internal and external partners on challenging projects related to accessibility and traffic disruptions within the province of South Holland. 

What will you be doing? 
As a Traffic Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and advising on traffic-related issues for Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar. You will support projects and regional teams with traffic analyses and recommendations throughout the Zuid-Holland region and contribute to an optimally functioning and accessible traffic and mobility network. 

Duties and responsibilities 

• Conducting traffic and multimodal impact analyses based on planned construction projects.  
• Preparing, organizing, and overseeing traffic monitoring at specific accessibility bottlenecks in the areas, as well as during unplanned (non-routine) disruptions.  
• Analyzing and interpreting traffic and mobility data, and translating this into recommendations for project and area teams 
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including traffic engineers at client organizations and regional partners, as well as ZHB colleagues from other disciplines such as communications and mobility management. 
• Actively contribute to the continued development of the Traffic and ZHB team in general. 

Demonstrated experience with: 

• Analyzing Multimodal Traffic Data 
• Preparing and presenting traffic engineering recommendations 
• Assessing and providing advice on traffic and accessibility measures 
• Traffic engineering analysis and monitoring systems, such as TrafficDash and Dexter. 
• Establishing Links Between Data, Metrics, and Network Performance 

• A college-level education with a degree in traffic engineering.  
• At least 3–5 years of verifiable experience providing traffic engineering consulting services for regional accessibility, traffic impact, or infrastructure projects. 
• Proactive and results-oriented work attitude. 
• Accurate and focused on the quality and consistency of information. 
• Productive Dutch language proficiency at the C1 level: The candidate can independently prepare and explain traffic engineering analyses and recommendations in a clear, understandable, and convincing manner to project teams, regional teams, and internal and external stakeholders. 
• Knowledge of and experience with the road network in South Holland is a plus.  

Good to know 

• 16-32 hours, to be arranged in consultation. 
• Hybrid work is possible; our office is located in Schiedam, right next to the Schiedam Centrum train and metro station (DCMR building). The lease can be extended twice for one year each.  
• Wednesday is a mandatory team day, and attendance is required.
