About the role
 
Airbus Defence and Space Netherlands is seeking a Commodity Buyer for Indirect Spend for the Procurement department.
 
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for indirect procurement categories, including professional services, consulting, IT services, facilities management, temporary workforce solutions, logistics services, and other business support functions.
 
You will act as a strategic business partner to internal stakeholders, ensuring value creation through effective supplier management, contract negotiations, cost optimization, and risk mitigation. The role combines strategic sourcing, stakeholder management, and supplier relationship management within a dynamic international aerospace environment.
 
You will report directly to the Head of Procurement and work closely with business leaders, functional managers, and suppliers across multiple disciplines.
 
Your Role & Responsibilities
 
As an Indirect Spend Commodity Buyer, you will:
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned indirect spend categories;
  • Lead supplier selection, tender, and RFQ processes;
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, framework contracts, and service agreements;
  • Manage supplier relationships and drive improvements in supplier performance;
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support procurement transformation initiatives;
  • Monitor supplier risks and ensure business continuity in critical service categories;
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and procurement needs;
  • Support contract management, renewals, and supplier governance activities;
  • Ensure compliance with Airbus procurement policies and applicable regulations;
  • Provide reports on spending, savings, supplier performance, and procurement activities;
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.
 
Your profile
 
You are commercially driven, analytical, and capable of building strong relationships across all levels of an organization. You enjoy balancing strategic sourcing activities with operational stakeholder engagement.
 
You bring:
 
  • Bachelor's degree (HBO level) or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or category management
  • Experience with indirect spend categories such as IT, professional services, facilities, or workforce solutions
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Experience managing bids and commercial contracts
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities
  • Analytical mindset with experience in spend analysis and cost optimization
  • Ability to work independently in an international matrix organization
  • Excellent communication skills in English (required) and, preferably, Dutch
  • Experience in a technical, manufacturing, or aerospace environment is considered a plus
