Company description:

Airbus is the largest aeronautics and space company in Europe, providing products, services, and solutions for the commercial aircraft, helicopter, defense, and space sectors. In the Netherlands, Airbus has multiple production and office sites, with a combined workforce of over 250 full-time employees. Although the majority of these employees focus on delivering hardware to the space industry (e.g., satellite solar arrays and launcher structures), Airbus Netherlands operates as a cross-divisional entity and helps strengthen the connection between Dutch players and the various Airbus divisions.

In April 2024, Airbus opened the Airbus Tech Hub in the Netherlands, a platform designed to catalyze breakthroughs in aerospace research, technology, and innovation in collaboration with the local ecosystem. The Airbus Tech Hub NL connects the global needs of Airbus Research & Technology (R&T) with the expertise and ambitions of the Netherlands, and aims to expand the Dutch contribution to Airbus’s future success: more Airbus in the Netherlands, more Netherlands in Airbus.

Today, eight enthusiastic innovators form the Tech Hub team at Airbus NL, focusing on the following themes: Future Energy Technologies, Cabin of the Future, Aircraft Operations, Composites and Industrialized systems, Connectivity, Quantum and MRO. Since the launch of the hub, the team has already established a significant portfolio of R&T projects.

About the role

Airbus is seeking a Project Manager for the Tech Hub NL team who will contribute, from a Dutch perspective, to accelerating the transition toward decarbonization of the aviation sector.

In this role, you will support and help shape national and international strategic initiatives and roadmaps, such as the Flying Vision Accelerator and SAF-related roadmaps. You will work closely with industry partners, research institutions, and government agencies, translating insights from technology, market, and policy developments into concrete actions, roadmaps, and communication materials.

You will be part of the Tech Hub NL team, contributing to the development of a long-term vision, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and innovation programs that support the decarbonization of aviation within the Dutch ecosystem. You will be working in a high-tech, fast-paced environment, pioneering sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Project Manager, you will:

  • Support the coordination and implementation of strategic programs and roadmapping activities related to sustainable aviation and the energy transition
  • Translate market insights, technological developments, and policy trends (e.g., SAF, operations, infrastructure) into clear conclusions, actions, and next steps
  • Support the development, structuring, and maintenance of visions and roadmaps for policymakers.
  • Prepare and facilitate interactive workshops, think tanks, and in-depth sessions, using methods such as design thinking, agile, and Scrum
  • Contribute to stakeholder management by aligning the interests of industry partners, research institutions, and government agencies
  • Support communication and the presentation of results, including presentations, publications, and contributions to external communications
  • Contribute to the integration of diverse insights and perspectives into coherent and well-supported strategic outcomes

Your profile

You are organized, curious, and proactive, and enjoy working in complex environments where technology, policy, and collaboration come together.

You bring:

  • A background in project management, business development, or a related field (2–3 years of experience preferred; entry-level candidates are also welcome)
  • A background in industrial design engineering
  • Experience, knowledge, or a strong interest in sustainable aviation, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), the energy transition, or aerospace innovation
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • The ability to translate complex information into clear insights and actionable next steps
  • Experience in facilitating co-creation sessions and workshops
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
  • A team-oriented mindset and the ability to collaborate with people from various disciplines
  • The ability to persuade and engage others
  • Excellent communication skills, including an interest in storytelling, marketing, and communication strategies
  • Preferably Dutch-speaking
  • Located in the Netherlands or willing to work from the Netherlands

What we offer

  • A junior/mid-level role with excellent opportunities for learning and growth at a leading aerospace company
  • Exposure to national and international strategy development and policy-making roadmaps
  • Collaboration with leading industry partners, research institutions, and government agencies, such as TU Delft, NLR, and airlines including KLM
  • A position within Airbus Tech Hub NL, combining international impact with a robust Dutch innovation ecosystem
