Job Description: Data Migration Lead Asset
Role: Data Migration Lead Asset
Alliander Context
The Netherlands is working toward a future in which energy will be fully sustainable by 2050. Alliander, together with its partners, plays a key role in this by enabling the energy transition.
Alliander committed to digitalization early on to facilitate the energy transition, with teams that develop, implement, and manage digital solutions. These include apps for field technicians and municipalities, as well as advanced algorithms for investment optimization and to prevent bottlenecks in the power grid. However, for part of our information provision, we are still dependent on outdated systems with complex interfaces and data that is difficult to access. That is why we will be replacing and modernizing core IT systems over the next five years. This is being done as part of a change portfolio called Fit4Future, which consists of five sub-areas, one of which is “Asset.”

Fit4Future Asset is building a future-proof digital foundation for managing, maintaining, and reliably deploying assets. The program standardizes and supports processes for asset performance, maintenance, and outage management, as well as for work preparation, operational planning, coordination, and feedback on field operations. In doing so, the deployment of personnel, materials, and services is comprehensively planned for both network expansion and maintenance and outage recovery, ensuring that operations are predictable, scalable, and manageable.

Job Profile
The Data Migration Lead is responsible for the complete migration of operational data to IBM Maximo, with a strong focus on work orders, work order history, and maintenance processes. The role requires in-depth analysis and the development of insights into work order flows, maintenance planning, and the dependencies between work order data and asset and location data.

Responsibilities
  • Develops the data migration strategy for operational and static asset data, with a special focus on work orders, status transitions, task structures, and scheduling.
  • Identifies and analyzes all relevant data streams, such as:
    • Open work orders (corrective, preventive, inspections, malfunctions)
    • Historical data (including work orders)
    • Status logs and workflow history
    • Location data
  • Ensures accurate data mapping
  • Identifies and manages data cleansing activities such as:
    • Standardizing failure codes and work types,
    • Correcting missing or inconsistent status history,
    • Cleaning up incomplete historical work orders,
    • Restoring allocation and posting data.
  • Coordinates the data-related transition in collaboration with the test manager during dry runs, SIT, and UAT, with strict oversight of:
    • Migration of open work orders to IBM Maximo without losing any scheduling or status data,
    • Valid, reproducible history,
    • Accurate linkage between work orders and assets/locations.
  • Works closely with the operational units of Alliander and Alliander’s planning departments.
  • Ensures that the operational data is error-free before the go-live, and that workflows can run smoothly on day one.
  • Works with the data office team to ensure data ownership within the organization

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 5–7 years of experience with large-scale data migrations to complex target systems and specific core systems within your industry (such as billing and contract systems).
  • Experience with data profiling, data cleansing, and ensuring the integrity of a reconciliation framework.
  • The ability to coordinate the data chain beyond one's own migration team, including internal system teams and the external implementation partner.
  • The ability to translate technical risks (such as data loss or mapping errors) into understandable business impacts.
  • Good Dutch language skills.
  • Experience with data migrations to IBM Maximo is a plus.
  • Experience with dry runs and test management processes is a plus.

Competencies

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex work order processes into data models.
  • You have the ability to translate the logical sequence of data flows and data transformation times (ETL) into a realistic migration plan, and to flawlessly orchestrate this plan during dry runs and the final transition using a database-driven runbook with built-in margins for data loss (fallout) and reconciliation checks.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical data teams and maintenance professionals.
  • Quality-focused, precise, and skilled at managing dependencies.
  • Proactive, decisive, and able to handle stress during critical migration phases.
  • Can provide effective leadership in a complex environment with many competing interests.
