Rate: up to €110, including MSP fee, depending on education and work experience

Location: Arnhem. Thursday = office day. An additional day may be added in the future.

The context

Within Alliander’s ART System Operations (SO), you’ll work on initiatives that contribute to the energy transition. Our mission: 100% grid utilization, 24/7 grid safety. The ART focuses on digitalization, real-time system operations, and smart solutions to connect as many customers as possible. We are working toward zero congestion by 2030. We operate within a SAFe framework as an Agile Release Train, collaborating with IT and Operations teams.

About the role

As a Scrum Master, you will normally support two teams, but in this case we'll start with one:

Grid Insight Management
A team (6 developers, a Product Owner, and a Scrum Master) that builds and operates topology data products to help manage the capacity of the electricity grid. Our products provide insight into how the grid is interconnected and support operational decision-making to address grid congestion. Working closely with seven other teams, we play a key role in increasing the effective use of available grid capacity. Our work directly contributes to reducing wait times for customers requesting new connections or additional electricity capacity, helping to accelerate the energy transition.

What You'll Do

• Facilitate Scrum events and drive genuine inspection and adaptation, not just conversation.
• Proactively identify team dynamics and opportunities for improvement, and intervene directly—tactfully but firmly.
• Coach teams and Product Owners to achieve high performance, self-organization, and ownership.
• Create and foster a sense of psychological safety so that team members speak up and engage in healthy conflict.
• Remove obstacles and ensure that progress, decisions, and roadblocks are transparent to the team and stakeholders.
• Be visible and integrated within the team, communicating clearly in a way that resonates with everyone.
• Take an active role in ensuring that established work practices are followed, intervening early when the team deviates from them.
• Actively participate in PI Planning, preparing and supporting teams throughout the event.
• Collaborate with the RTE and Product Managers on ART-level continuous improvement, ensuring that both teams and the ART continue to evolve.

• Solid experience as a Scrum Master in large organizations, preferably in a SAFe environment

• You believe in unity over uniformity, but at the same time can find ways to improve based on best practices and established work methods
• You coach teams to act within their circle of influence, focusing their energy where it matters and building momentum from within
• You can easily switch between a team that needs structure and one that needs space
• Pragmatic, people-first, and results-oriented
• English is required; Dutch is a strong plus
