The context

Within the ART System Operations (SO) at Alliander, you'll work on initiatives that contribute to the energy transition. Our mission: 100% grid utilization, 24/7 grid safety. The ART focuses on digitalization, real-time system operations, and smart solutions to connect as many customers as possible. We are working toward zero congestion by 2030. We work within a SAFe framework as an Agile Release Train with IT teams and Operation teams.

About the role

As a Scrum master, you will normally support two teams but in this case we start with one:

Grid Insight Management
A team (6 developers, a Product Owner and a Scrum master) building and operating topology data products that help manage the capacity of the electricity grid. Our products provide insight into how the grid is interconnected and support operational decision-making to address grid congestion. Working closely with seven other teams, we play a key role in increasing the effective use of available grid capacity. Our work directly contributes to reducing waiting times for customers requesting new connections or additional electricity capacity, helping accelerate the energy transition.

What You'll Do

• Facilitate Scrum events and drive real inspect & adapt, not just conversation.
• Proactively spot team dynamics and improvement potential and intervene directly: tactful but firm.
• Coach teams and Product Owners toward high performance, self-organisation, and ownership.
• Create and safeguard psychological safety so team members speak up and engage in healthy conflict.
• Remove impediments and make progress, decisions, and blockers transparent to the team and stakeholders.
• Be visible and integrated within the team, communicating clearly in a way that lands with everyone.
• Take an active role in safeguarding the ways of working, intervening early when the team drifts from agreed ways of working.
• Actively participate in PI Planning, preparing and supporting teams through the event.
• Collaborate with the RTE and Product Managers on ART-level continuous improvement, ensuring both teams and the ART keep evolving.

• You coach teams to act from their circle of influence, focusing energy where it matters and creating momentum from within
• You switch easily between a team that needs structure and one that needs space
• Pragmatic, people-first, and results-oriented
• English is a must; Dutch is a strong plus

Practical

• Location: Arnhem; Thursday on-site with the team. Possible extra day in the future.
