Assignment Description

We are looking for a Mid-Level Data Engineer to join our multidisciplinary Data & Analytics team and help develop, manage, and improve data solutions within a modern cloud-based data environment.

The Data Engineer is responsible for extracting, transforming, and modeling data from various sources and actively contributes to the creation of reliable and scalable data products. The candidate helps design data models, develop ETL processes, and ensure data quality.

The project will be carried out within an Agile team that works closely with data analysts, data engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders.

Work

  • Developing and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Designing and implementing data models.
  • Developing Transformations in DBT.
  • Working with SQL in a modern cloud data environment.
  • Developing Python code for data processing and automation.
  • Ensuring data quality by testing and validating datasets and data models.
  • Working with version control, deployment processes, and CI/CD principles.
  • Collaborating within an Agile framework.

Requirements

The candidate has:

Python

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Data Engineer, during which Python was actively used in projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing or generating code for data processing, automation, or ETL processes.

DBT

  • At least 1 year of verifiable experience with DBT.
  • Be able to independently develop and maintain data models and transformations within DBT.

SQL / Snowflake

  • Proven experience with SQL in a modern cloud-based data environment.
  • Experience with Snowflake is a strong plus.

Git

  • Proven experience with Git in professional development environments.

CI/CD

  • Experience working in CI/CD environments.
  • Understands how deployment, branching, and release processes work.
  • Experience as a CI/CD user is sufficient; no experience as an administrator or developer is required.

Data Modeling (Kimball)

  • Experience in designing and implementing data models according to Kimball principles.
  • Can interpret, apply, and further develop dimensional models.

Agile

  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Understands Agile principles and has gained experience working in Scrum or similar teams.

Wishes

Orchestration

  • Experience with Airflow.
  • If you have no experience with Airflow: demonstrable experience with a similar orchestration tool.

AWS

  • Experience with AWS components, preferably:
    • S3
    • IAM
    • Elastic Container Services

Metadata and Modeling

  • Experience with LinkML.
  • Experience with SHACL.
  • Experience with YAML.

Domain Expertise

  • Knowledge of CIM (Common Information Model).
  • Knowledge of the power grid.
  • Experience in the energy sector or with utility companies.
