Spatial Development and Policy Team
The Spatial Development and Policy team is responsible for strategic spatial policy development. Within this team work the professional disciplines of Housing, Environment and Sustainability, Mobility, Urban Planning and Landscape, Planning and Planning-Legal Affairs.
Within the Housing Department, policy advisors work with colleagues from across the organization and external parties on the broad policy area of Housing. Housing is one of the organization's priorities. There is a lot of work and a wide range of projects. You have to deal with metropolitan issues and tasks on a larger scale in a medium-sized city close to the administration.
Who are we looking for?
Due to the departure of our colleague, we are looking on an interim basis for a senior policy advisor Housing with experience in the field of housing development and housing programming. We are looking for someone who is available from September, this for a warm transfer from the departing colleague. We estimate the duration of the assignment to be approximately six months.

You form the link between the organization and external parties realizing housing development in Schiedam. You direct the development of more than 7,000 new housing units in Schiedam before 2030 on the basis of the Woonvisie.

What are you going to do?

- you officially manage the local acceleration table, which consists of market parties active in Schiedam (developers, corporations and brokers);
- You maintain external contacts with market and other relevant parties;
- You work together within the Housing Department to align concrete projects and policy ambitions.
- You connect and engage in integral development of housing sites with other departments involved, such as Real Estate, Projects, Sustainability, Mobility, Planning, Urban Planning and Landscape;
- You initiate and seize opportunities needed to realize the housing task in Schiedam;
- You are the very first point of contact for private market initiatives that contribute to the housing task in Schiedam;
- you direct and monitor the housing task and report and advise on it officially and administratively.
- Relevant college or university education, for example in the field of Planning, Social Geography, Real Estate or Construction;
- At least 5 years of work experience in a policy-oriented strategic position focused on residential construction;
- Possess a broad network within both government and market;
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (Housing Act, Housing Act, Environment Act) and relevant regulations and developments (such as public housing fund, housing incentive, realization incentive, national program liveability and safety);
- Willingness to look beyond the boundaries of the field and also help carry the story of comprehensive integrated development;
- Affinity with current themes in urban development, such as the urbanization task, housing and healthcare, health, sustainability and climate adaptation;
- Experience or affinity for working in a municipal organization;
- Dealing with feedback (receiving and giving), being able to work under pressure and excellent expression skills are important qualities to be able to perform well in this position.
