Role description and task arrangements

Interim Team Leader, Construction and Equipment

Due to the temporary absence of our regular team leader, we are looking for an experienced interim team leader for the Construction and Equipment team to start immediately. The team consists of approximately 15–20 employees, including technicians, a scheduler, and a work planner.

The core of this role is day-to-day leadership. You are visible and approachable on the work floor, stay informed about what’s going on, and actively engage with employees. You provide clarity, address issues related to attitude and behavior, and help the team work well together.

The team works in a hospital setting, where maintenance and malfunctions can directly impact patient care. With your leadership experience, you ensure calm, structure, and continuity.

Your assignment

While the regular team leader is away, you ensure that employees know what is expected of them and receive the support they need. You establish clear agreements regarding tasks, responsibilities, and collaboration, and actively follow up on them.

You combine a coaching approach with decisiveness: you listen, provide guidance, and step in when necessary. You also have difficult conversations and focus on attitude, behavior, and following through on commitments.

In addition, you will ensure that management, maintenance, and ongoing tasks continue to be carried out carefully. When the regular team leader returns, you will ensure a clear handover of the team’s status, agreements made, and pending matters.

What will you do?

  • You will manage 15–20 employees on a daily basis and serve as the primary point of contact on the work floor.

  • You discuss the division of labor, set priorities, and ensure that employees know what they need to do.

  • You conduct one-on-one meetings to discuss performance, development, and collaboration.

  • You address employees regarding their attitude, behavior, and adherence to agreements. You make specific follow-up arrangements and ensure they are carried out.

  • You actively address tensions and collaboration issues within the team.

  • You discuss the progress of maintenance and service calls with the planner and work scheduler, and take corrective action if work threatens to come to a standstill.

  • You ensure that technical issues are directed to the appropriate employees or suppliers and follow up on their resolution.

  • You will monitor agreements with suppliers and ensure that documentation and certifications remain up to date.

  • You will coordinate your work with Asset Management and the project organization.

  • You will discuss progress, staffing issues, and risks with the cluster manager and ensure a clear handoff to the permanent team leader.

Who are you?

You are an experienced team leader with a technical background. Your strength lies in leading and mentoring people. You feel at home in a hands-on technical team and know how to build trust without shying away from difficult topics.

In addition, you possess:

  • A college-level standard of work and thinking, along with a technical background, such as in architecture, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.

  • Demonstrable experience in the day-to-day management of an operational team in technical management and maintenance.

  • Experience with temporary or interim management assignments, where you can quickly integrate into an existing team.

  • Practical experience in conducting difficult conversations and guiding attitudes, behavior, and collaboration.

  • A coaching and collaborative style, combined with the ability to set boundaries and make decisions.

  • Sufficient technical knowledge to understand maintenance issues and malfunctions and to set priorities.

  • Preferably, experience in the healthcare sector or another setting where continuity and safety are essential.

  • Availability on very short notice and a willingness to work on-site for most of the workweek.

Important Considerations When Proposing a Candidate

In the profile, specifically explain which operational teams the candidate has managed, what experience the candidate has with interim team leadership, and how the candidate has previously focused on attitude, behavior, and collaboration. Technical expertise or project management alone is insufficient for this assignment.

Duration and Scope

  • Start date: immediately.

  • Duration: initially six months, with the possibility of an extension depending on the return of the permanent team leader.

  • Hours: 32–36 hours per week, preferably 36 hours.

  • Pay grade: Grade 10.

  • This application is not suitable for self-employed individuals.
