Role description and task arrangements

As policy advisor on water and climate adaptation, you will work for the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug on the task of creating a water-robust and climate-adaptive municipality. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with broad knowledge and a clear vision, who can contribute substantively but also possibly to participation and communication about this. The focus is primarily on water, but you may also be involved in climate adaptation projects.

What assignments await you
    • WKP elaboration projects resulting from it
The PPP is through the council, a number of things come out of it that need to be set up. The top priority out there is #4 below. That is more or less out of the WKP but needs to be set up already this year so that speed can be built into that.
Projects where a plan needs to be put in place this year so that projects can be started right away in 2026:
  • Set up projects with the water board to implement climate adaptive measures
    • Addressing heat in downtown
    • Catching water over villages
    • Other?
  • Establish grant scheme that residents can take advantage of in coming years 2026-2029
    • Grondaken
    • Rain barrels
    • Disconnect
    • Permeable on-site parking spaces
  • Drafting Heat Plan
Create a heat plan in cooperation with the province.
  • Project Disconnecting Districts
Districts where there are sewerage problems should be disconnected. To do this, it is important that neighborhoods be notified and a process set up whereby the houses in these neighborhoods are actually disconnected. The disconnection itself will be done for us by an external company. The costs will be paid by the municipality. It is important that residents, companies and institutions are approached and involved in the importance of disconnection.


What can you do?
  • Completed relevant completed college or university education, for example land and water management
  • Experience working in a municipality or other government agency
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the field of water and climate adaptation
  • Experience leading projects and delivering results in a timely manner.
  • You have experience in communication and participation work
  • You have good writing skills
  • You enjoy getting people to join you.
